Jessica-Santiago2013a Jessica-Santiago2013b

Angel & Jessica Santiago are two of the most unique Salsa/Mambo dancers, performers, choreographers and instructors in Texas at the moment. Their choreography and teaching technique, along with their funky but precise body movements and clean styling, have brought them significant attention. They are two passionate, hard working and focused individuals who always strive to be the best at everything they do.

Jessica Santiago started her salsa-dancing career as a member of the international dance company Semeneya in the year 2000, under the direction of Lee Rios. Jessica has participated and won many salsa competitions throughout Texas, including first place in the Sabado Gigante Salsa Competition on Univision. Jessica has performed for various concerts and events in Texas such as, the 100th Anniversary of Harley Davidson, opening act for Elvis Crespo, the Latin Jazz Festival, and the San Antonio Fiesta Celebration to name a few.

Angel & Jessica have both taught and performed nationally and internationally in Germany, Italy, Puerto Rico and Mexico, but predominantly in their Lone Star State. They are the directors and founders of Xibuké Dance Company – an association of professionals and amateurs dancers brought together by the passion of contemporary Latin dances. We’re putting forward our experiences and influences from various origins, to propose shows, demonstrations, courses and workshops in San Antonio, Texas and abroad.

Our Story

It started as an idea between friends, bringing a congress to Texas where at the time Texas had no active congress in the entire state. A congress that would showcase Texas Salsa talent, bring awareness of salsa to the community and raise money for scholarships. Together David Melendez and Ruby Rivera worked hard and in January 2004, the Texas Salsa Congress was born.
