Robert Lay – Dallas

RobertLay2014b

Roberto Lay, a professional dancer and instructor from Dallas, has developed his own unique style of urban bachata. He leads one of Texas’ largest and well-known bachata teams called SeduXion, which has groups in Dallas, Austin and Houston. A native of Panama City, Roberto has been teaching dance for more than 10 years and has spent more than 15 years in the entertainment and promotional industry. His experience as a dancer dates back to the age of 15, when he took up Folklorico and discovered his true passion for the art. His dance repertoire now includes salsa, mambo, merengue, cha-cha and, of course, bachata. His originality and flair has gained him recognition on a national and international stage. Beyond performing at events across the U.S., Roberto has also appeared on various international media. Most recently, he and his partner Tamara Valle were featured on the cover of Nexos, American Airlines’ inflight magazine published in both Spanish and Portuguese. Together, Roberto and Tamara have fine-tuned a dance style all their own, and use it and perform and teach dancers of all levels.

Our Story

It started as an idea between friends, bringing a congress to Texas where at the time Texas had no active congress in the entire state. A congress that would showcase Texas Salsa talent, bring awareness of salsa to the community and raise money for scholarships. Together David Melendez and Ruby Rivera worked hard and in January 2004, the Texas Salsa Congress was born.
