DJ David Cruz – Houston, TX

DJ David Cruz has earned the name “The Evil Genius”. So what is it that makes him such a hot commodity that promoters will fly him half way around the world for him to play records….or should I say perform. There are few DJ’s that can produce the energy that DJ David Cruz does in the club. When he is at work you can feel the intensity and passion he has for the music. As he switches from record to record the crowd feeds off his energy. He amps the crowd by hollering into the mic, then throws on an even hotter record. And just when you think the party is at its climax, yet another record hotter then the last!!! DJ David Cruz’s record selection, energy and attitude truly defines him as an artist. Hearing and watching him play is a performance in itself! So that is why promoters will do whatever necessary to have DJ David Cruz play their club. To no surprise, DJ David Cruz has played for events such as “NYSC” in New York (2006), Los Angeles, The House of Blues (New Orleans), New Jersey (Terminal 1 Night Club) (2006), Philadelphia (Brasils) (2006), Latina Magazine Party(2007), Bacardi Invite(2007), Gillette(2005),

Before DJ David Cruz was Spinning at clubs allover the U.S., he was David Cruz, a Puerto Rican and Dominican kid from Alief (South West Houston Texas). At age 15, David was introduced to the turntables and soon after bought his first set of Techniques 1200’s. (Bad Idea!), David broke into the club scene and began playing at the legendary afterhours Club Cache’. By 2001, David had established himself as a dominant DJ and was playing in at least 4 clubs a week.

Our Story

It started as an idea between friends, bringing a congress to Texas where at the time Texas had no active congress in the entire state. A congress that would showcase Texas Salsa talent, bring awareness of salsa to the community and raise money for scholarships. Together David Melendez and Ruby Rivera worked hard and in January 2004, the Texas Salsa Congress was born.
