Eli Perez – New York

Eli Perez was born in Brooklyn and raised all over New York. His interest in dance started when he was 7 years old. Eli started performing with an afterschool dance team, which opened the door into the dance world, as well as gave him the opportunity to dance on the MSG stage. He learned many different dance forms, but his serious dancing career started when he was sixteen and joined LORENZ LATIN DANCE STUDIO to further his roots into dance. Eli skyrocketed onto a team and performed for about 3 years in Reflejo de Lorenz. He was given the opportunity to become professional and joined the LORENZ LATIN DANCERS. Wanting to further his studies into performing, Eli got the teaching bug and decided to become and instructor and director to better grasp the art. Since then Eli has been teaching, directing and choreographing to this day.

Our Story

It started as an idea between friends, bringing a congress to Texas where at the time Texas had no active congress in the entire state. A congress that would showcase Texas Salsa talent, bring awareness of salsa to the community and raise money for scholarships. Together David Melendez and Ruby Rivera worked hard and in January 2004, the Texas Salsa Congress was born.
