Tara Gonczi – New York

Growing up Tara Gonczi always had a love for dance and never shied away from an opportunity to dance – whether it was choreographing small routines with her cousins or dancing around at family parties. Joining Lorenz Latin Dance Studio in January 2006 was like a dream come true for her, starting off with Ballroom and eventually working up to Latin Dance.

In November 2006, she was given the opportunity to join Lorenz’s Semi-pro Salsa team, traveling to many congresses on the East coast. As her dance career unfolded, she went on to join the Lorenz Latin Dancers. There she was given many opportunities to perform and teach workshops at various international congresses. Now going on 11 years, she continues her dance career as studio manager and instructor.

Our Story

It started as an idea between friends, bringing a congress to Texas where at the time Texas had no active congress in the entire state. A congress that would showcase Texas Salsa talent, bring awareness of salsa to the community and raise money for scholarships. Together David Melendez and Ruby Rivera worked hard and in January 2004, the Texas Salsa Congress was born.
