Roberto Lay – Dallas


Roberto is a professional dancer, performer and instructor out of Dallas Texas. He was born in Panama City, Panama and moved to the states at the age of 10. He took up dancing at the age 15 in a Folklorico group where he first discovered his true passion for dance. Roberto has been in the entertainment and promotional industry for over 15 years, and has been teaching dance for over 10 years. He is knowledgable in many of the Latin dances, such as Salsa, Mambo, Bachata,Merengue, and Cha-Cha. He has performed in numerous nationwide events and has also appeared on international television. He is a well rounded dancer, gifted artist and is recognized for his originality and flair. He possesses much creativity and wisdom which makes him a unique instructor to all levels of students. Over the last ten years, he has famously taught and partnered in Salsa with the very talented Sandy DeLara. In the last year, in addition to salsa, Robert has begun a new avenue for his art through Bachata. He was known for as part of a freshly introduced, traveling couple are now known nationwide for their wild painted bodies, his glittering mohawk and her rear-length jungle hair.

Our Story

It started as an idea between friends, bringing a congress to Texas where at the time Texas had no active congress in the entire state. A congress that would showcase Texas Salsa talent, bring awareness of salsa to the community and raise money for scholarships. Together David Melendez and Ruby Rivera worked hard and in January 2004, the Texas Salsa Congress was born.
